The Imperial Woodpecker: Is it Extinct?

This video is the only known film of the Imperial woodpecker, a 2-foot-tall relation of the Ivory-billed woodpecker. Found in a mountain range in Mexico, the Imperial woodpecker is highly endangered, if not extinct. William Rhein, an amateur ornithologist filmed the rare bird in the 50s, but wasn't pleased with the quality of the footage. The video has recently been released by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
